What is Vertigo?

Vertigo is a condition where one feels unbalanced. It is typically a result of an inner ear problem. The patient may feel that they are moving or things around them are spinning.  Vertigo is often triggered by a change in the position of your head.

Symptoms of Vertigo:

  • Room Spinning
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Headaches
  • Ringing in the ears

Treatment for Vertigo:

  • Positional treatment
  • Balance exercises
  • Patient education
  • Home exercises can help with positional treatments.

We can treat your vertigo with positional treatment.  Positional treatment is performed by a Physical Therapist. They will turn your head slowly to move particles that are misplaced within your inner ear. The PT will also teach you how to perform this positional treatment yourself as well as providing you with other educational information. You will also receive home exercises that can help decrease the symptoms of vertigo.
