Deep tissue massage uses firmer pressure to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia, which is the connective tissue surrounding muscles. Deep tissue is used to break up scar tissue and attempt to break down muscle “knots” or adhesions that can disrupt circulations and cause pain, limited motion and inflammation.
